Tropical Storm Fay...and the garden

Well, here it is, what feels like weeks of rain and it's still raining. But I'm not complaining, really I'm not. Florida and our adjoining states needed the water for our lakes, lawns and crops. Our new garden didn't need quite this much water! I checked it out today between rain storms and it didn't look too bad. The little corn sprouts took a beating but I think with some sunshine they should perk right up. The tomato plants and the other taller plants did ok too. And what a surprise for Kevin...his peanuts finally sprouted. He's so excited!

Our yard looks like a hurricane hit it. We have leaves all over the place, not to mention twigs and larger limbs. What a mess to clean up!

We learned tonight that a sink hole opened up at the front of the neighborhood. Large enough that 2 trucks could fit into it. I believe last year in a subdivision nearby that 3 sink holes opened up...that's what happens when you have this much water. I'll try to get a photo and post it.

Laura was under a tornado warning in Jacksonville and one did touch down at the Town Center a few miles from her home, close to UNF. Sometimes it's tough to have her so far away...but nice to see her handle these types of situations so well...or to convince mom that she is...:) Prayers were lifted up believe me...

Hope everyone is safe and dry...
