Beware of the Doghouse!

I don't know if you've seen the Beware of the Doghouse ad. It is so funny. Enjoy!

My new Gator nephew......Ty

Here are some photos of my new nephew, Ty. Being a Gator family, they tossed around the name Tebow, but decided on Ty (Tyler James). Ty was born Monday, Dec. 15th at 7:46am, weighing 8lbs 4.9oz, and 20 inches long. He has a brother and sister that are very proud of him. I can't wait to hold him and do the "mother sway"...you mothers know what I'm talking about. Hold any baby and you just instinctly sway back and forth, back and forth. Just can't help it! Anyway, congratulations to David, Suzanne, Scott & Allison...a family of four, now a family of five. Merry Christmas!!! Love you all!

FL Senator Mel Martinez's Reply to Questions on Obama's Citizenship

Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.

Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.

Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.

The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.

Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.

After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.

I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Mel Martinez
United States Senator

****************************
So questions were raised regarding BO's qualifications "according to the US Constitution" and Martinez says he was "vetted" by the voters. What???? Why aren't the politicians that WE vote into office not vetting this candidate/now Prez elect who has critical questions regarding his birthplace, dual citizenship, etc??
All I can say to Martinez is...thanks so much for not running for office in 2010 as he announced today. Maybe we can elect a politician that has the courage to stand up and protect our Constitution.

Get Ready to Feed the Cow!

(Received in an email)

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land
slide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth, he offered ice cream, and fifty percent of America reacted like nine year olds. They wanted ice cream. The other fifty percent now know they're going to have to feed the cow.

A little political humor....

President Bush went on a trip to Little Rock for a meeting with Mike Huckabee. When he got back to DC and got off of Air Force One, he was carrying two pigs, and the Marine standing guard noticed the pigs and could not hide his curiosity. President Bush noticed, so he stopped to explain, “If you’re wondering about these pigs, here’s the story: While I was on my trip, I got these two Arkansas razorback hogs, one for Hillary Clinton and one for Nancy Pelosi”. At that, the Marine suppressed a giggle and said “Nice trade, sir”

People....what have you done....

Well, it's taken me a couple of days after the election before I felt like posting something on here. I feel frustrated, sad, angry and then nothing at all. I've talked to a lot of people, friends and co-workers, who feel the same way. Let me start off by saying that I understand why some people voted for this guy...they had a chance to elect the first black president of the United States. But at the same time, I feel they threw away their principles and voted for a man without character.

As I've said before, this race was about character above all else for me and my family. If McCain had been a black man and still held the same "character" as he truly does, he would have my vote. If I felt he would keep me and my family safe, secure, heal the economy and work with all people to heal our nation, he would have my vote. And that is why John McCain got my vote. But others in my party that chose to vote for BO did so out of disdain for Bush, the war, for guilt, dislike of McCain, whatever...others that voted for BO did so for the same reasons but also for their party, what they saw as the "gimmies" to come and race. People, what have you done?

Living in Florida we face every year the threat of a hurricane. Living in Central Florida, the winds may not be as strong or the damage as severe, but the feeling in the pit of your stomach is one of quiet fear...fear of the unknown. Are you to the left of the storm or the more damaging "right" side? On this day, I feel I am to the "right" of the storm, the "right" of the election. It's the fear of the unknown.

Right now, I watch little news. More cooking shows, "First Time Home Buyer" shows, Law and Order, anything to avoid the face and the voice of The One. I have no respect for him after his disgraceful show of disrespect to Hillary Clinton and recently, John McCain (see post below). As a politician running for the highest office in this great land, you don't flip off your opponent. What are you, Mr Prez, 44 going on 13? People, what have you done!

People have said this was the biggest turnout ever but more people voted in the 2004 election than this election, see below:

2004 Election Turnout Roughly 121 Million
62,040,606 BUSH
59,028,109 KERRY

2008 Election Turnout Roughly 19.5 Million 1.5 million less than 2004

63,423,384 OBAMA
56,079,500 MCCAIN

So, people, when BO can't follow thru with his election promises, taxes the middle class even tho he said he wouldn't, can't end the war when he promises, when another nation or terrorist attacks us here on our land (as Biden promised), he moves to the far left where he is most comfortable, finally shows his true self and you feel totally betrayed by your candidate....don't ask, Prez, what have you done?

People, look in the mirror and ask yourself....what did I do?

Obama.....Lack of Character

I thought long and hard about this video as it shows Obama in a light of his true character. We've heard about his past associations, the words of his long-time pastor, his wife's words, his dealings and on and on. We've heard about his character...want to know a person's character, look at his past. Also look at what he does, the choices he makes..look at Obama as he speaks of McCain at a rally of his admirers. And as you do, think about him potentially being our next president. If he speaks with a head of state and happens to disagree with him or her, will he give them this same gesture.....If you haven't voted or know someone that hasn't voted, please go to the polls tomorrow. Our country is at stake and I mean this with all sincerity!

The Three Liberals as The Three Stooges

And remember...these people vote!

Did you catch what she said? With Obama, she won't have to worry about putting gas in her car, worry about paying her mortgage. These people are in a state of absolute fog that they actually believe this...and passing this belief on to their children. And turn right around...and vote for this guy. They have no earthly idea what he stands for...just hope and change....fa la la la la.

WooHoo.....Zogby poll...McCain 48, Obama 47

Obama's Tax Plan..um, as of October 28th...

Could you help me please find these things, Obama?

You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.

BUT....

From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he w as forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World .... 143 days.

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start.

AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America ?

Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!

What we need to remember when voting --

During this election year let's be reminded of these words:

* You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich.

* You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong.

* You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift.

* You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down.

* You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred.

* You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men's initiative and independence.

* You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could and should, do for themselves.

Do you recognize the author?

It was Abraham Lincoln

Very, very wise words, written years ago and we still don't get it.....

At least some don’t…..

News You May Have Missed...

How would you feel if after 30 years you discovered you had a sister? Stunned? Well, that's how two British women felt after finding out they are really sisters having been friends for 30 years.

Deborah Day was adopted when she was two months old. Her sister, Marilyn Morris, was about 1 year older.

They met again as teenagers when they started working together in a supermarket and a friendship started, not knowing they were actually sisters.

As life happens, they lost touch. Eventually an older sister, Sally Griffiths, after learning about her family history started searching for her family.

When they were reunited Deborah, 44, and Marilyn, 45, were shocked to learn they were more than just friends....but sisters.

Deborah and Marilyn's children go to the same school and live within a mile of each other. The sisters look alike and realize they have a lot of catching up to do.

How wonderful that they have been reunited not only as friends, but now as sisters!

I love my sister, who is also my best friend, so I know how Deborah and Marilyn must be feeling. What a great story!

Just in case you missed John's speech at this dinner for Catholic charities, he was at his very best with a speech that was well received, plus VERY funny. Take a few minutes to listen to his speech, posted in 2 parts. You'll enjoy it! Sorry, didn't post BO's....:)

Joe the Plumber

One day BO's talking with a potential voter about his tax policy...the one where he wants to take from the haves/rich (those above $250,000 before taxes, etc) and give to the havenots/poor...otherwise called income redistribution.

The next day, his campaign and supporters work to destroy the reputation of this man because of his supposed support of McCain.

That same day, BO says this:

This Acorn article is one of the most informative and eye opening ones I've read. Read and learn about Obama's association.

Mortgage Crisis

ACORN showed its colors again in 1991, by taking over the House Banking Committee room for two days to protest efforts to scale back the CRA. Obama represented ACORN in the Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 1994 suit against redlining. Most significant of all, ACORN was the driving force behind a 1995 regulatory revision pushed through by the Clinton Administration that greatly expanded the CRA and laid the groundwork for the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac borne financial crisis we now confront. Barack Obama was the attorney representing ACORN in this effort. With this new authority, ACORN used its subsidiary, ACORN Housing, to promote subprime loans more aggressively.

Ironically, an enthusiastic Fannie Mae Foundation report singled out one paragon of nondiscriminatory lending, which worked with community activists and followed "the most flexible underwriting criteria permitted." That lender's $1 billion commitment to low-income loans in 1992 had grown to $80 billion by 1999 and $600 billion by early 2003.

The revisions also allowed for the first time the securitization of CRA-regulated loans containing subprime mortgages. The changes came as radical "housing rights" groups led by ACORN lobbied for such loans. ACORN at the time was represented by a young public-interest lawyer in Chicago by the name of Barack Obama.

But now....Obama is trying to distant himself from his association with Acorn. Under the bus you go, Acorn

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/

NoQuarterUSA is a blog that I have been reading for many months. When you visit there, don't think I've gone off the deep end because, yes, it is a Pro-Hillary site. I happened on it just surfing around one day and found it had a lot of interesting posts, links to websites, videos and the like....and especially on my reason for reading....NoBama!

Bloggers were finding anything and everything they could to stop Obama which was to help their candidate, Hillary. In the end, Obama succeeded with the help of many wealthy donors & supporters and of course, the media.

And now, as it has been said, they are out for blood! Now finding even more of the above plus more incriminating. It is getting quite interesting. It has become not just a democrat site, but a "COUNTRY FIRST" site...Democrats, Republicans, Independents and just plain StopObama people.

They are blogging that Obama was and still is a Socialist, having the endorsement of the Socialist Party back in Illinois. That in the lost years of his Columbia Univ days he was actually very active in the anti-aparteid activism, early 1980s, probably same time that his friend, Bill Ayers, was. No wonder he doesn't write about this!

But if you're interested and want to learn AND hear of things before they hit FoxNews, check them out.

And hold on to your seats....it's going to be a bumpy ride....to the White House!!!

But I thought I hid my past?

Barack Obama and Bill Ayers....It's about Character

This presidential race is becoming one of the most important races in a very long time...especially for first time voters. Obama has an appeal for many young voters, but then again, those that really study what each candidate believes in, their life experiences and judgement, those young voters are also choosing to vote for McCain & Palin.

For me, one of the most important aspects of this race is character, integrity, decisions made and life choices. Candidates can speak volumes on their platform regarding education, health care, the economy, foreign policy and the likes. But depending on the state of the country, like the economy now and an ongoing war and what party dominates the Congress, those platforms may not be able to succeed once elected.

The candidate who represents my party, has a history of service to the military, having been a prisoner of war for over 5 years, being tortured and sustaining painful wounds. Those same wounds have caused life altering disabilities to where he can't comb his hair, do consistent typing and the such. He also has been in politics since 1982 and is known for being a "maverick", one that works across the aisle to get things done. If you only work within your party, sometimes you may be neglecting a good idea from the people across the aisle. And that maverick is John McCain.

Ok, so there's finally some talk in the MSM/Mainstream Media (New York Times just published an article) about the relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers mainly because Sarah Palin is mentioning him at her rallies. The MSM has pretty much neglected this topic or not given it much coverage because it reflects negatively against "their" candidate, Obama. And what does Team Obama have to say about Ayers....Obama, who was a child when the Weathermen were planting bombs, has denounced Ayers’ radical views and actions.
Well, that part is true..when Bill and his group were planting bombs, Obama was 8 years old. But that doesn't excuse his relationships with Ayers since then.

Ayers was not convicted because the FBI bungled a wiretap. He admits to being a criminal, just not a convicted criminal. Guilty just the same.

Now Obama, in the early Democratic debates, said that Ayers was "just a guy that lives in my neighborhood, and a professor of English...". He was being dishonest to the American public! I guess he didn't think quick enough that this would be checked out. In fact, it goes further than that and probably more as information is coming to light each day.

It is said that Obama and Ayers first came in contact when Obama became Chairman and President of the $50 million Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a multi year school reform effort started in 1995. The question that is being raised and researched is if that relationship was pre-CAC, which is very possible. There are possibilities that they met as far back as Columbia College in the 1980's. If they did, it will come to light.

Now this brings up a question. In all of Obama's speeches about his amount of experience, has he ever, even once, mentioned being the Chairman and President of $50 million Chicago Annenberg Challenge. He ranks on Palin about her being a Mayor but here he was a CHAIRMAN & PRESIDENT with actual responsibilities and duties. He only mentioned his being a Community Organizer, why not the more prominent role? Why wasn't this brought up in debate, in press, in talking points by his staff...even once? What is he hiding?? Is it because of the mismanagement of the CAC, the millions going to school children?

To me, if you want to know what kind of man will make a good president, look at his past, the people he has been associated with, his judgements...with Obama..look at Bill Ayers, Rev Wright (20 year relationship), Father Pfleger, Tony Rezko, Nadhami Auchi, M. Marzook and others.

Why would Obama choose to associate himself with a man like Ayers, who clearly is not a friend of the United States, to say he didn't do enough in his earlier years as a terrorist, to show such disrespect that he would stand on the American flag?

What caused the economic crisis.

This is a fast paced video with information regarding the current crisis. Please take the time to watch and learn. John McCain did try to avert this crisis in 2006 by speaking about the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005

I join as a co-sponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

This was 2006! What happened to the bill? Never made it out of committee, taken down by the Democrats, some of whom were in the process of receiving deals of their own. The top 3 people who received political money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were all Democrats....the #2 guy was Obama, only 4 years in the Senate and ahead of John Kerry.

(Pause any part of the video to read the information being presented...it does move fast)

As a follow-up, look on the left index for the post Seen the true colors yet of Obama?

Garden Update....We have vegetables!!

This is a McCain/Palin garden.....Republican all the way!!

Starting on the left of the garden, there is corn, blackeye peas, tomatoes with green beans on the end, okra, zipper peas, a row of cucumbers, green & yellow peppers, eggplant & squash, and then 3 rows of peanuts just for Kevin.

The leaves of the corn were being eaten by something but it kept growing and now we have several ears of corn growing.

Our green peppers are really starting to get big and look healthy.

We have quite a few tomatoes growing and very tiny okra on the plants.

Sarah Palin, The Villages Victory Rally

The Sarah Palin Rally in the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida was awesome! My daughter,Sarah and I arrived around 10:00 am knowing that in a short time thousands would also be arriving. We drove up Hwy 441 and came in the backway of the Marketsquare, found the parking area in a field near the Waterfront and took a bus where the rally was to be held. I have never been to the Marketsquare but it is very nice. We walked towards the square, scoping out where the entrance would be to get in for the rally & found there was already a short line, so we joined it.

We joined the line probably around 10:30 or so. We talked to people around us and people-watched....a lot of people watching. There was entertainment, a country band that played the whole time, jugglers, other musicians, and patriotic stilt walkers.

(Hey, campaign workers have to eat too)

About 12:30, they started letting the crowd into the barricaded rally area which you needed a ticket which I had gotten at a Republican office in Altamonte Springs on Saturday morning. First to go in were the campaign volunteers with the VIP badges, then the others (meaning us) were allowed to go in.

We had to go thru security & the metal detector and made our way to the front of the stage. We were about 6 people deep from the podium...not bad until you've been standing there in the sun with thousands of others.

(See the person in front leaning over the railing above...we were about 5 people right behind her. Notice the pink shirt someone is holding up behind her, look at the next photo..see the pink shirt, that's how close we were)

We talked to others around us, had 2 icees, water, water and more water that staff were handing out. Especially after people started passing out! Sarah almost gave up but she hung in there and I believe she was glad, in the end, that she did.

Not sure who this guy was but he was obviously the "guy in charge". He walked around giving directions and "talking in his sleeve" alot.

We and our rally neighbors got a kick out of this one woman that was making her way from the back, chatting it up with others, all the time eyeing where she was heading next. Next being closer to the podium! Her friend was behind us and my rally neighbors made sure she didn't move in the same direction. The lady eventually moved left of us but was still about 4 people from the front of the podium.

Eventually, several speakers made their way to the stage, giving short speeches. One was Bill McCollum, Florida Attorney General. Country singer, Aaron Tippin sang about 4 songs. We watched a plane pulling a banner that said "The South is Palin Country".

About 3:15 (yes, I did say 3:15) Sarah Palin was about to come out. About this time, I really started paying closer attention to how I was feeling inside and realizing the sun & heat was starting to take it's toll. If I didn't want to go down & get a visit from the folks in blue, I needed to get in the shade. People were looking up at the big screens on the side of the stage, yelling & clapping, and I knew they saw her. So, I told Sarah that I was not feeling well, and had to go to the back and she said she was staying. So glad she did!

I stood in the shade behind over a thousand or so people, next to the bar stand, sipping orange juice & ginger ale, that the bartender made for me. He already had seen 3 people pass out in front of him so he knew what I was going thru. I did get some photos and enjoyed the excitement of it all.

Now, inside the barracaded area were thousands, I don't know how many. when I made my way to the back, I looked at the other side of the barracade in the back towards the streets and the crowd was HUGE, every way you looked were people. It was amazing!

(To the left of the people above was a barricade which is where we were on the other side. Now, when I went to the back (towards this crowd), I took these next 2 photos of the massive crowd above, just from a different angle.)

Sarah eventually was able to move closer to the barricade and was able to see Willow, Piper, Todd and Trig. Piper talked about her trip to Walt Disney World and how much she enjoyed it. The baby eventually was taken out of the sun but everyone got to see him and how cute he is. When Todd was introduced, many in the crowd started shouting, "Dude, Dude, Dude...".

Now after about 10 minutes, still feeling "not well", I knew in a short while all these people would be leaving, heading to the buses and trying to leave the parking lot. So Sarah and I started making our way out thru the masses and able to get out on the road about 30 minutes later. Not bad! Other than being hot and tired, we were glad we went to see the next Vice-President!

(Other media photos....yes they were there in mass....)
