Hit and Run Drivers!

My daughter and I were on our way to get a birthday present for one of her friends this afternoon. As we were driving up to the intersection of Hwy 436 & 434 (Altamonte Springs, FL), a white Expedition-type vehicle clipped the right rear of a smaller vehicle, causing damage to the woman's car and possibly the larger vehicle. Did he stop to see how the woman was? No, he sped off and turned right onto 434. We ensued "at a safe speed", but the driver was intent on getting away and succeeded.

I can only hope that his conscience gets the better of him, but I doubt it. Maybe he is a student and the parents will set him straight. But if he is an adult, this may be how he conducts himself in all aspects of his life and that is sad. Your true character shows when you least expect it.

“Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught.”
J. C. Watts

Another driver did stop to check on the woman and I pray that she is OK. And I pray for the other driver too. He needs it!

Have a blessed and safe evening....

Monday Smiles!

I received this in an email at work this morning and it was exactly what I was needing to brighten up a Monday morning....when I really wanted to be home. I believe this adorable little boy is named Ethan and he is just getting the biggest kick out of....well you'll see.....

To the parents, or that fact, anyone that has had the honor of having a little one in your life, you will recognize these laughs from Ethan. These laughs just take over their whole body and anything can set it off. They can have their moments, believe me, but for the most part babies bring such joy into your lives. And once you look into their faces when they are born, you can't ever imagine your life without them.

Hope your Monday was a blessed one....especially after seeing little Ethan!

Kids....gotta love 'em!

Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his cowboy boots?

He asked for help and she could see why.

Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on. By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat.

She almost cried when the little boy said, "Teacher, they're on the wrong feet." She looked, and sure enough, they were.

It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet.

He then announced, ".... These aren't my boots."

She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, "Why didn't you say so?", like she wanted to. Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off when he said,
"They're my brother's boots. My Mom made me wear 'em."

Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But, she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again.

Helping him into his coat, she asked, "....Now, where are your mittens?"

He said, "I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots."

Our family was blessed about a year ago with the gift of a boat. We love to fish, especially hubby. He has fished since he was a little boy. We both have great memories of fishing trips with our parents as little kids. One year I was in a boat with my dad on Lake George along with 2 other boats with family. It was a cool day and the two of us got into a mess of fish. We outfished the rest of them and it was great. But a storm came and we had to zip across the lake, in the rain & wind and cold! Not fun....but a great memory.

We have gone fishing in a lot of lakes around Central FL and one of my favorite places is the St. Johns River. It is a beautiful body of water....winding with little waterways that jut off from the main river. You can see so many birds, turtles and other wildlife that make for a peaceful trip....if it weren't for all the other boats and watercraft that tend to crowd the river. The best time to go is during the Super Bowl....trust me....:)

Hubby and a friend from work went fishing on the east coast recently near New Smyrna. They fished for several hours and brought back..........

...7 fish. Seven fish!! They caught maybe fifty fish, but could only keep 7. But they had a blast and that's all that counts.

Have a blessed night....and may your fish be many....

The north has snow, the south...flowers

Spring time always comes early in Florida. Our yard is planted with lots of azaleas that produce different sizes and colors. This grouping is probably about 18 years old. The plants are loaded with flowers and even more buds. In another 2-3 days the buds will open with beautiful white blossoms.

We have azaleas planted in several areas on our 1/2 acre front yard. When they are all in bloom in colors of salmon, white, pink and purple it is breathtaking.

You can't help but take a few extra minutes to admire their beauty...and thank their creator...

Some people like to trim their azaleas especially the G. G. Gerbing (large white). I prefer to just let it grow to its heart content. It fills the area around the trees with beautiful growth and even more beautiful flowers.

Something on my heart.....

I truly have a strong faith in prayer and prayers being anwered by our Lord. Sometimes, for whatever reason, they're not answered in a way that we thought they would be. But during those times, you can still find the wisdom behind the given answer. Maybe it was more precious time with someone, just not as long as you would have liked. But everyday is a blessing, you know. My dear mother, who was in the final stages of Alzheimer's, spent her last days in a nursing home. And even tho I would loved to see her healed of this horrible disease, in the end, she was! She went home to be with the Lord and didn't spend any more time going downhill even more. The wisdom behind the answer...

On Valentine's Day I asked prayer for those I knew were needing it. Please lift those up again if you would. There's someone whose cancer has returned. There's someone that just lost their son to a long, hard fought battle with cancer. A friend is finishing her treatment & worried for the "what next". A high school principal in Orlando needs intervention & direction & support. Someone close is having a procedure & needs a good report. Maybe you have a need or a worry....don't forget about yourself, ok?

Thanks for listening. Have a blessed Sunday.....

Computers....Great when they work!

I think most people use computers in their work place to some degree. In my job, I probably use one about 60% of the time...for correspondence, calendar, various school software, online research, etc. Usually, there is no problem at all....until yesterday....

The first hint of a problem was when I was talking with someone within the school and they just disappeared. I thought they were waiting on me to say something or was busy writing down what we were talking about. Until, I said their name....and dead air. Everything open on my computer screen went blank or just quick working. And it stayed that way for about 2 hours. Luckily it came back online and all was well......until today.

It crashed again and was down for hours. Now, when you have to set meetings and get out notices & such, it makes for a difficult day. So knowing that this problem may go into early next week, I hand wrote a meeting notice for staff. Hand wrote because my word processor was also effected. And because I had to set a meeting and couldn't access my calendar...which was in my computer....I had to look at the meeting folders to determine an opening. But everything worked out and the system came back online about an hour before we left.

What a day.....of course the Valentine chocolate in the drawer made it all better.....:)

Have a blessed night.....

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones chests, would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's comment.

Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart. 'Listen', she said...........'What do you suppose that is?' He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap - tap - tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked, 'Is that Jesus knocking?'

(This story was sent to me in an email. I don't know who the little boy is but isn't he precious!)

Have a blessed night....

"A coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous."

-Unknown

Begin Again.....

To begin again means that you won't give up.
To begin again means you're trying.
You can either start over and live your life
Or spend the rest of your life slowly dying.

It is never the falling that makes us fail.
It is never the pain or the crying.
You can never fail in life, my friend,
Unless you give up trying.

How do you handle life???

"What happens to us isn't nearly as important as how we handle what happens to us."

Isn't that an awesome statement! Our longtime pastor and his wife were reassigned to another church on the west coast. In the months since they've been gone and in the midst of them trying to get settled in their new church, learning names of the members, new staff, new programs, new routines, the whole whirlwind of change....he said that the thing they do have control over is their attitude.....how you handle any situation that comes your way.

His wife writes a blog and even as long as they've been gone and as far away from us....we still are able to be uplifted by his words and be able to apply them to our lives. He always was blessed with a way of using God's word and applying it to our everyday lives and that is something we will never forget.

Keep blogging, Pam....we're still listening.....

What a week!

Indeed....what a week!!! Work was so busy with our deadline looming yesterday. But we got just about everything done that needed to be completed by noon. My co-worker was out sick, which she needed to be home, which made it a quiet day after the deadline was met. And a teacher that keeps us supplied with Dove chocolates brought us a bag for Valentines! Mine, they're all Mine....well I'll share with some people!

Romney dropped out which really was to be expected. McCain looks to be the eventual candidate even with Huckabee still in. I still believe that McCain has a lot of work to do to insure the Republican party that he will be the conservative President that he says he is. At times he appears to be a right-swinging Democrat and some have said that if he wins, this will make many Democrates happy just knowing how he has voted in the past. It's going to be a long road to November.....

My sister just left after a lovely visit. We spent the day shopping for bargains and had a nice lunch, along with my daughter home from college. My sister and I are just over a year apart and have such a strong bond. It's so nice to be able to share things with her, our families going on trips together and just being "best friends". I know she will read this.....so, sis, I love you, enjoyed your visit...:)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend....I think I'll go take a nap.....

Have a blessed day.....

Red Skelton's Recipe for a Happy Marriage

1. Two times a week we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays; I go on Fridays.

2. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California , and mine is in Kentucky.

3. I take my wife everywhere....but she keeps finding her way back.

4. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested the kitchen.

5. We always hold hands. If I let go, she shops.

6. She has an electric blender, electric toaster and electric bread maker.
She said "There are too many gadgets, and no place to sit down!" So I bought her an electric chair.

7. My wife told me the car wasn't running well because there was water in the carburetor. I asked where the car was. She told me, "In the lake."

8. She got a mud pack, and looked great for two days. Then the mud fell off.

9. She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" The driver said, "No, jump in".

10. Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

11. I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her first name was ALWAYS.

12. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months I don't like to interrupt her.

13. The last fight was my fault though. My wife asked, "What's on the TV?"
I said, "Dust!"

Can't you just hear him say all of these?
And he always ended his programs with the words, "God Bless"
