Church bulletins....

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.

Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow.

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What Is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir.

The Rector will preach his farewell message after which the choir will sing: "Break Forth Into Joy."

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.

New member of the family....Maggie!

My daughter came for a visit this weekend from college and went to the Cat Protection Society in Eustis. This is a place where we got our two cats, Pepper & Lucy, and did so because they don't euthanize & the cats live out their lives at this place.

Laura picked out the cutest little kitten, black with gray streaks, with the faintest stripes. It will be interesting to see what she looks like in several months. The best personality, playful, loving and will follow you everywhere. Loves attention and gives it back freely....sometimes right in your face!

Beautiful Lake Burton in Georgia

We stopped at this fish hatchery at Lake Burton which is on Highway 197 near Clarkesville, GA.

They raised trout which would be released into area streams and lakes once they became a certain size.

The Dillard House

A view from the Dillard House in Dillard, GA. If you don't know about this restaurant, you just sit down and within 5 minutes your table is filled with bowls of fried chicken, fried steak w/gravy, country ham, all kinds of vegetables, dressing, rolls and then dessert...whether there's room or not...:)

Highway 64 in North Carolina

This is Bridal Veil Falls which is beautiful. A boulder fell one time & you can't drive behind them now.

Highway 64 is a winding road around, up & down the mountains from Highlands to Franklin. (As hubby knows,my favorite road!) A river with rapids & boulders follows this road and offers wonderful views everywhere you look.

Foxfire

Foxfire is an historical museum, featuring cabins dating back to the 1880s, wagons, church and tools used by the residents of the Appalachian Mountains. The Foxfire programs was started back in 1966 and was a very interesting visit that was topped off by one of the employees who works on the cabins & conducts tours took a real interest in our group. I think he was intrigued by our love of family history & how much we knew about our heritage. He gave us a personal tour of a locked cabin that stored all kinds of wood working tools, sewing machines, old shoes, a fishing basket, too much mention. He also showed the girls how to shave wood and make a saw "sing".

The purpose of this museum is to keep the history & spirit of the Appalachian people alive.

There was a church with beautiful stained glass windows. The girls enjoyed pulling on the rope that rang the church bell.

The flowers on our trip were just breathtaking. These bright yellow shrubs were everywhere, along with daffodils and lovely pink cherry, white & pink dogwoods.

This is hubby trying out stilts and doing a pretty good job....at least it didn't end with a hospital visit!

Sky Valley...views from the balcony

In the late afternoon, after a day of traveling, we would sit on the balcony admiring the view. The bells of the chapel on the hill would ring out sending a lovely sound throughout the valley. You would also hear ducks quacking or the honks of the geese in the ponds on the golf course.

Beautiful views

One of the most pictureous sights was when the clouds would be in the trees of the mountains or across the roads.

Tallulah Gorge, GA

One day we visited Tallulah Gorge in NE GA. This beautiful area is about 1000 feet deep and 2 miles long. It has a visitor's center and then paths that lead to several overlooks. You can also get a permit which allows you access to an area where you can throw yourself over a perfectly good rock wall.....:)...for you adventuresome souls.

The Great Wallendah, famous tight rope walker/circus performer, stretched a cable across the gorge and successfully walked it.

My sister and I with the waterfalls below.

One person in the group didn't like heights, as you can see him admiring the view from afar! He nicknamed himself....sissy boy!
